Wed 6th Sep 2017 - 1:07pm : LOL

With Worlds 2017 just around the corner, teams from all over the globe will be competing for the top spot, looking to take the crown from reigning champions SKT Telecom T1. With talent rising up each split, proving themselves worthy of a shot at the crown, placing bets on a winner is looking more and more difficult but who should you place your hard earned cash on?

The current odds are showing SKT Telecom T1 as the favorite to win at 7/13. Having won three previous World Championships (2013, 2015 and 2016) it's not surprising SKT are picked to take home the trophy again. With a consistently strong presence at the Worlds Championships, teams see SKT as the giant at the top of the beanstalk and frequently maintain that SKT mid laner Faker is the man to beat. In a recent interview with Blitz Esports, Luka "Perkz" Perković who is the mid laner for EULCS champions G2 Esports was asked how he could become the best mid laner, to which he replied, "Faker would have to break his hand and then I would still have to work hard."

With South Korea's ever strong presence in the rankings, the odds of a non-South Korean team taking the title currently sit at 10/1 with China's Royal Never Give Up at 19/1 and World Elite at 35/1 respectively. If you happen to like heavily unfavorable bets, the odds of SKT being eliminated in the group stage nets a 50/1 odd.

The League of Legends World Championship 2017 will begin on September 12th with the Group Draws and the tournament itself will begin on September 23rd, you can visit the Wikipedia page for more information on the teams and groups.

This year seems to highly favor SKT to win again and with their consistent performance over the years it's hard to disagree. We will see what happens, come to the start of the tournament but one thing is for certain, it will be a memorable Championship.
