Oceania has its champion and we are going to worlds!

Hello, my favorite croissants,

I need to start this with a disclaimer that I am a Chiefs e-sport supporter, so this blog may have a hint of bias to it, I will, however, remain as neutral as I can.

Saturday started off great, the OPL show started at 5, there was banter, pizza had been ordered and everyone was settled in to watch some of the best League of Legends that has been played in this region. Since the OPL started, there have always been 2 major teams, The Chiefs Esport Club, and the now LG Dire Wolves. For 3 straight years, we watched the Chiefs go undefeated every year, they were the best. Come this year though, their reign came to an end. This is the year of the Wolf Pack!

As far as the games went, it was a 3-1, but I have to emphasize how close the games really were. The Dire Wolves are known for a fairly aggressive early game, and the Chiefs more for their late game and team fights. The Chiefs don't necessarily have a bad early game, but they find themselves having to fight their way back into the game, quite often. If you watch the games back the Chiefs played their early game as best you could against a team like the Dire Wolves. Though the Chiefs often trailed 3-4,000 in gold, they still managed to keep lane and objective pressure.

As much as I hate to say it, the Chiefs lost, and Dire Wolves will be the first Oceanic team to play at Worlds. And speaking of Worlds, it's going to look a little bit different this year. I'm very excited for it, and if you'd like to see the new format click here.

Admittedly when you look at any OCE team internationally, we haven't done great. We give the best banter and shit talking, we just forget about following it up. This year though, I have a gut feeling, but at the same time, I am also bracing for disappointment. This year the OCE teams have looked better than ever. We've stopped playing ARAM, there's more communicating, the teams are living and practicing together. Don't get me, wrong folks, I am by no means expecting OCE to win worlds, or even make the finals. What I think is reasonable, is that OCE make it out of round 1, and I think the Dire Wolves will have broken all boundaries if they make it to the group stage. I do believe the Dire Wolves are the best team OCE has to offer and they have shown nothing but growth.

As always though, I want to hear your thoughts! What region or team are you cheering for at worlds? What are your predictions for worlds? is completely funded by its readers. Support us by checking out our sponsor below:
